Parent's Corner
Dear Parent,
You are vital to your child's soccer success and fun!
There are few things more delightful than sharing a green field with the communities'
children at play. Lenape Valley Soccer Club wants your child to have a wonderful
experience playing the great game of soccer. This is a family adventure. As a Club,
we are a community of families.
With the exception of miracles, most wonderful experiences are the result of
organization, planning and work. It is the same for LVSC. Lenape Valley Soccer
Club is an all-volunteer organization. The many people who contribute time to
this Club, do it for no compensation or perks. They do it because they want this
experience for their own children. They do it because they enjoy associating with
other great parents who share this vision.
You are invited to be a member of this soccer community. We register families,
not just kids. The Club is now about 20 years old, however, please do not take
it for granted. This is not a babysitting service. This not a privilege you get
for paying taxes. It is an opportunity, and a necessity, for each parent to
demonstrate to their own children what they are doing within the club to support
their child and their friends playing soccer. You can not, in good conscience, put
your child in LVSC programs without yourself committing to contribute some of your
time, effort and talent.
All the work required is contributed by parent volunteers. If every parent does
a small job and does it well, this club will remain a strong, vital organization.
If every parent demonstrated his or her responsibility, then there is
accountability. Enthusiasm breeds more enthusiasm. Support breeds more support.
Much will be accomplished and, even more important, our kids will be in a better
supportive community. They will become citizens who have learned by example to do
the same for their own future children.
LVSC knows everybody is too busy, we know families are stretched. It is not
just LVSC, all organizations are faced with the same challenge. Registration
fees are the absolute minimum necessary to pay for expenses. Much more could be
assessed. However, LVSC will not use money to overcome this problem, because it
really cannot. This is about our community kids and parents participating in the
joy of their kids at play. Today kids do not get to simply play and have enough
fun. This is just what intramural soccer provides.
LVSC is not a private club. We are not exclusive. We provide for all the kids.
We do not own fields, there is no clubhouse, etc. The Club maintains the position
that we must put our faith and trust in the community. We depend on the parent's
voices within their municipalities to express that it is vital for our community's
kids that fields and other amenities are provided. LVSC is just a parental
structure, which provides administration and supervision for the activity of
community soccer.
Let's put this in perspective. The combined intramural and travel programs
have approximately 350 kids registered each spring and fall. In the Lenape
Valley, there are more kids playing soccer than any other club sport. In fact,
LVSC provides more children the opportunity to enjoy supervised team play than
in the local Schools. Pretty amazing!
So, Parent, where can you contribute? Just ask. There is a list of amazingly
simple tasks which need to be done. Some jobs are on the field, some are
administrative. Always needed are people willing to organize and administer.
We need coordination of this, that, and the other. Each parent can make a positive
contribution. LVSC has done well, but we can always be a better club.
You are wonderful people,
Best Regards,
Lenape Valley Soccer Club
